Birth Pool Hire Agreement

This Agreement is made between Crunchy Life Australia ("Owner") and the Hirer 

Hire Package Inclusions 
The Hirer will receive the following equipment as part of the birth pool hire:

  • 1x Haven Birth Pool (Inflatable)
  • 1x Pool Liner (Single-use, disposable)
  • 1x Submersible Water Pump
  • 1x Electric Air Pump
  • 1x Disposable Drinking Water Hose (Food-grade)
  • 1x Set of Universal Tap & Hose Adaptors 

All equipment, unless otherwise specified, is to be returned to Crunchy Life Australia at the end of the hire period. 

2. Hire Period 

  • As per online booking.
  • The standard hire period is 5 weeks unless otherwise arranged in writing. 
  • Late returns may incur additional charges. 
  • Please advise ASAP if additional days will be required.  

3. Hire Fee and Bond 

  • Hire Fee: $250 (incl. GST)
  • Refundable Bond: $50 (To be returned within 7 business days of the return of all items in acceptable condition.)
  • Total Payable Upon Booking: $300 
  • Payment can be made via: Bank Transfer / Card / PayPal / Afterpay / Shop 

4. Conditions of Use 

 

By booking online you consent to this agreement, the Hirer agrees to the following terms: 

Responsibility 

The Hirer is fully responsible for the correct, safe, and reasonable use of all hired 
equipment. 
Crunchy Life Australia is not liable for any injury, death, damage, or loss resulting from the 
use or misuse of the equipment.

The equipment must not be altered, lent, sub-hired, or otherwise passed on to third 
parties. 

Health & Safety

  • The Hirer agrees to obtain medical clearance from their chosen healthcare provider before 
    planning a home birth with water immersion.
  • The birthing woman must never be left unattended while in the pool or in active labour.
  • Water temperature must be monitored and maintained between 36°C and 37.5°C.
  • The pool must be placed on a flat, indoor surface capable of bearing the total load 
  • Children and pets must be kept away from the pool and equipment at all times. 
    Equipment Use
  • The pool liner and water hose are single-use and must not be reused.
  • The pool and all reusable items must be returned clean and dry.
  • Any damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in loss of bond or further charges.
  • The submersible pump is to be used only when the pool is empty of occupants and 
    unplugged before handling. 

5. Cleaning and Return 

  • The Hirer agrees to return all items by the due date in clean condition.
  • The birth pool should be rinsed and dried thoroughly before packing.
  • If equipment is returned unclean, a cleaning fee of $50 may be deducted from the bond. 

6. Cancellation and Refund Policy 

  • Cancellations made 14 days or more before the hire start date will receive a full refund. 
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the hire start date may forfeit 50% of the hire fee unless exceptional circumstances apply.
  • No refund will be given once the equipment has been collected or dispatched. 

7. Acknowledgements 

By booking online the Hirer consents to this agreement, the Hirer acknowledges and agrees that:

  • They are hiring this equipment at their own risk.
  • Crunchy Life Australia is not a medical provider and offers no medical advice.
  • Water birth and home labour involve inherent risks that must be managed with the 
    support of trained health professionals.
  • It is the Hirer's responsibility to ensure all guidelines are followed, and that the birth is supported by an appropriate care team. 

8. Instructions for Setup & Use 
SET UP: 

  1. Remove the pool from the box and lay out on a clean and flat surface until room 
    temperature.
  2. Place on top of a blanket/rug to help prevent heat loss of water.
  3. Use the smallest nozzle of your air pump to inflate the floor, followed by the seat(s).
  4. Use the largest nozzle of your air pump and the 2-way valve to inflate the walls to 80%. 
  5. Unpackage the liner and place on the pool ensuring the holes line up with the handles.
  6. After fitting liner, use the medium nozzle on your air pump and the 1-way valve to 
    complete inflation. 

FILL UP:

  1. Attach your tap adaptor to a desired tap in your home (i.e., laundry, kitchen, bathroom).
  2. Attach your hose adaptor to your food-grade hose and connect to the tap adaptor.
  3. Begin to fill the pool with cool water first, gradually making it warmer to approximately 37°C.
  4. Once water covers the bottom, smooth out any folds or wrinkles in the liner.
  5. Fill the pool to at least 45cm as indicated on the pool and then turn off the water supply and remove the hose. 

WATER REMOVAL: 

  1. Remove debris from the pool using a net or sieve.
  2. Connect your hose to the submersible pump and lower it into the water, ensuring the suction cups are on the bottom.
  3. Place the other end of the hose into the drainage source and turn the pump on.
  4. Once water has reached the pump level, turn off the pump and dispose of the rest by removing the liner.
  5. Sanitize the submersible pump by running it through a sanitation bath. 

PACK UP: 

  1. Ensure the pool is clean and dry with towels and antibacterial solution.
  2. Use the large nozzle of your air pump on the deflate setting to deflate the pool completely.
  3. Use the small nozzle of your air pump to deflate the floor and seat(s).
  4. Ensure all air is out before folding and rolling up the pool.
  5. Dispose of hoses and liners before packing remaining equipment for return.

9. Liability 

  • The Hirer is responsible for ensuring the safety of all those involved in the use of the pool.
  • Crunchy Life Australia does not accept liability for any loss, damage, or injuries.
  • The Hirer assumes all responsibility for any accidents or injuries that occur during use.
  • It is recommended that all births have a licensed and qualified midwife present. 

10. Damage to Items 

  • The Hirer is responsible for any damage to the pool and/or equipment.
  • Notify Crunchy Life Australia within 72 hours if any equipment is missing or damaged.
  • If not reported within this period, refunds are not guaranteed. 

11. Late Return of Hired Items 

  • If the hired items are not returned by the agreed return date, the following conditions 
    apply:
  • Late Return Fee: $50 each day the equipment is overdue.
  • Legal Action: If items are not returned within 14 days, Crunchy Life Australia reserves the 
    right to pursue legal action to recover the equipment. 

12. Payment/Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be made 14 days prior to the hire start date to receive a full refund.
  • No refund once equipment is collected or dispatched. 

13. Waiver 

  • By completing this booking, I confirm I have read, understood and agree 
    to the terms and conditions set out by Crunchy Life Australia.
  • I accept full responsibility for the hire items during the agreed hiring period and will 
    return items in the same condition as received (minus the disposable items used).
  • I agree to not hold Crunchy Life Australia responsible/liable for any issues that may 
    arise from the use or possession of the birth pool.
  • If the hire items are lost, damaged or stolen whilst in my possession, I am aware that I will incur additional fees.
  • I agree to use the items only as instructed and understand it is recommended that I 
    am under the care/guidance of qualified medical professionals whilst labouring 
    and/or birthing in the pool.
  • I agree and understand the cancellation/refund policy.
  • I agree to follow all relevant laws, regulations, and state healthcare guidelines 
    regarding the use of the birth pool. 
  • A copy of this agreement will be emailed at the time of booking and will be available upon request.
